Remembering Doug on Valentine’s DayPosted on Tuesday, February 8th, 2011 at 11:01 am by Jim Falkenstein
A sad anniversary will soon be upon us. This February 14th it will, unbelievably, be one year since Doug broke on through to the other side. On that date, in honor of his memory, we will post some newly discovered, never-before-seen photos. And while there will be no formal gathering here in LA to commemorate the occasion, there is a way to remember Doug that would bring everyone together in spirit and in a way that would have thoroughly delighted him: On Valentine’s Day, burn some incense (Doug loved Honey by l’Occitane, but just like his favorite chapstick, it was discontinued), play some of Doug’s music (Knack, solo, Sky, Sunset Bombers… whatever you want – or all of it – turned up to eleven), and raise a chocolate-covered Entenmann’s donut in a toast. (Chocolate Entenmann’s donuts were one of Doug’s favorite guilty pleasures. If that just won’t work for you, then choose your own guilty pleasure, as long as it doesn’t violate the law or any twelve-step programs.)
We guarantee you, all of that incense, music and chocolate will reach him, wherever he is, and let him know he is still remembered and loved.
